Operations – NSIP Performance Trend
In this section you may review the overall numbers for our involvement in the NSIP Program. Our data input goes back to 2006. NSIP refers to this report as Genetic Trend. The division in which Shropshires are included is termed USA Terminal.
For us the goal is too continue to see our numbers improve over time. Each chart shows the average performance number for the breed (69-5 Shropshire) and our individual flock performance number.
The various charts in this report are: (for a more complete description of the NSIP Program go to their website: nsip.org)
- Lamb 2020 index.
- Carcass Plus Index.
- Weaning Weight
- Post Weaning Weight
- Post Weaning Fat
- Post Weaning Emd (loin eye)
- Birth Weight
With our objective being the production of commercial Terminal Rams that are breeding white face commercial ewes, our goals are briefly centered on a high Post Weaning Weight and low birth weight.
In the area of loin eye (Emd) we are chasing the English Shrop type numbers which predominate in the NSIP Shropshire Flock average data base. It is a core reason for our Genetic Convergence approach which adds loin eye thickness and feed conversion traits to the Modern American Shropshire genetic base.
